Using Shelly Z-Wave modules with Fibaro Home Centre 3

Click here for Shelly Wave Devices

When booting up Fibaro Home Centre for the 1st time you will be prompted choose between engine 2 and engine 3.

When using Fibaro Wave engine 3 with Shelly wave modules, the engine 3 sets everything ok and you also have the possibility to do the OTA (Over the Air) and use the SmartStart to add them to the controller and custom templates for the parameters. As Engine 3 is still in beta version mainly Engine 2 is used but there is no possibility for OTA and SmartStart. Another thing with the engine 2 is that all the Multichannel devices (everything that have multiple in or outputs) have to be set properly in order to report the states back to the gateway. Setting that is pretty easy. Delete the single channel association and set the Multichannel instead and the device works completely.

Additionally, you can find more details about the supported Wave Hubs in the attached pdf file provided

When utilising the Fibaro HC3 with the Z-Wave engine 3, a template is automatically generated based on the data contained within the device. As an example, please refer to the screenshots below, which displays the parameter templates for the Wave Shutter and our new Wave Pro Dimmer 1PM.

The Z-Wave engine 3 is robust and includes all the necessary features for Z-Wave devices in the 700-800 series, such as SmartStart and over-the-air (OTA) updates. Additionally, the parameter template is dynamically generated from the device's data.

However, it is worth noting that the Z-Wave engine 3 is currently in beta and has not been widely adopted, as a stable release has not been announced by Fibaro. Furthermore, upgrading to this engine would require a full reset and reconfiguration of the gateway, which may be inconvenient for customers with existing device setups and automations.
